If you wish your child to attend our Montessori Program we strongly encourage that you place your child's name on our wait list for the upcoming year. Admission priority is given to returning students, and then second to siblings of existing families and - based on date of application - admission will be offered to new students and families from the wait list. To be added to this list, please email your request. By placing your child onto the wait list well in advance of their turning the age of three your chances of admission are very much increased .

The Maria Montessori School is a fully licensed Preschool, offering morning and afternoon programs. Our School offers you an authentic three year Montessori (International - AMI) Preschool and Kindergarten education program. For more information please send us an email.

The Maria Montessori School is an associated training facility for Montessori practicum students enrolled in the MONTESSORI TRAINING CENTRE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA – (AMI). Every year student teachers learn to apply Montessori International principles and methods within our school under the guidance of our Directress.
Families have been associated with The Maria Montessori School now - in some cases - for more than 25 years.
Dr. Maria Montessori herself, and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) she founded in 1929, never sought to legally protect the name “Montessori”. And so today - the word “Montessori” is no assurance of authenticity or qualification, or method - and parents are advised to carefully research before choosing.
In 2017 - The Maria Montessori School participated in the 28th International Montessori Congress in Prague (CZ).

Directress: Mrs. Rosa van Meel
The classroom AMI Directress Rosa van Meel - born and raised in Vancouver B.C. - holds a Bachelor Degree of Science (BSc Agr), the Association Montessori Internationale Diploma (AMI), ECE Certification, and she is a member of the Montessori Society of Canada. As the mother of three young adults, Rosa has always been passionate about working with children. As a teacher she uses the full pedagogical methods developed by Dr. Maria Montessori to guide and develop the unique gifts and abilities of every child.
Assistant Teacher: Gagandeep Kaur
Gagandeep Kaur Bahia was born and raised in India where she received her Bachelors Degree in Primary School teachers qualification in 2008. After moving to Canada, she fulfilled the requirements to attain ECE qualifications. Gagan has experience teaching in several local preshools. Gagan has one daughter.
AMI Montessori Practicum Teacher: Emmalene van Meel
Emmalene is training to become a full AMI Montessori Guide and is working part-time here at the Maria Montessori School. Emmalene graduated from the Victoria Conservatory of Music (Violin Performance) in 2018 and taught violin at her own private studio in Victoria. Emmalene has her AMI Teaching Assistant Certificate (Prague 2020).
Full time staff are ECE and First Aid Certified.
